Tracing the Meridians is Healthy For Both You and Your Pets

Updated on June 1, 2013

The Meridians Are Channels of Energy

There are 14 energy channels running through the body that are called meridians. Energy flows through these channels like water through a riverbed. When the channels are clear and the energy is flowing freely we feel good but when the flow of energy gets blocked, stuck, or hampered in any way we feel unwell. Disruptions to our energy systems come in many forms. Stress, emotional upsets, fears, traumas, poor diets and chemical contamination, are just a few of the factors that can block these channels, just as a logjam could cause water to pool in one part of a river and reduce it to a trickle in another part.

There are many ways to clear out these energy blocks; acupuncture, meridian tapping techniques like EFT, chiropractic techniques, and energy medicine techniques such as sedating, strengthening, flushing and tracing the meridians. Tracing the meridians is a method that anyone can do without any training, all you need to do is watch and follow along with the videos below.

Once I got the hang of doing this I began routinely tracing certain meridians like the spleen meridian to strengthen my immune system and the central meridian to protect my entire energy field, it is easy and only takes seconds. I zip-up my dogs central meridian on a regular basis too and she seems to really enjoy it!

The meridians are the energy transportation system of the body.

In this video well-known healer Donna Eden demonstrates how to trace your meridians. Donna, who can actually see the body's energies, is the founder of "Energy Medicine," techniques for correcting and balancing the body's own energies. It only takes a few minutes of your time to trace your meridians along with Donna! I especially like to do this when I am feeling "off" as it makes me feel better, obviously it would make more sense to do this daily but it hasn't quite made it into my daily routine as yet.

Great charts for any healer to hang on the wall of their office as a visual display of their work and so handy to be able to see the meridians at a quick glance!

Zip-up your central meridian!

The benefits of keeping the energy flowing freely through your meridians are limitless. You can strengthen an organ by tracing the corresponding meridian daily. Tracing the spleen meridian will strengthen your immune system and help keep it healthy. If your lungs are congested, tracing the lung meridian will help remove the energy blockages that lead to the congestion. When you zip-up your central meridian like in the above picture you keep unwanted energies from intruding on your energy field. It takes less than 5 minutes of effort on your part to keep the energies flowing properly in your body and only a few seconds to do the zip-up which I make part of my daily routine!

Based on a live class, this 2 hour DVD starts at ground zero and teaches you how to use simple techniques for working with your meridians and the other energies of the body. I find Donna Eden's explanations and demos are clear, practical and easy to follow while her enthusiasm makes learning a fun experience!

Here we are shown two different methods of opening up your dog's energy pathways. Animals energies get clogged up just like ours do and this is an easy way to get the energy flowing and make your pet more comfortable. My dogs love it when I do this!

To me these laminated Canine Meridian and Acupoint Charts are very helpful as they provide a full depiction of the dog's major acupoints, the 12 Major Meridians, and the Governing & Conception Vessels...I work with these meridians daily as I "hook-up" my dogs.

If you watch this video you will learn how you can trace the meridians on your horse. I taught a friend how to do this for her horse and it makes her so much calmer!
