Have Happier Holidays With EFT

Updated on November 16, 2014

EFT Can Turn Stressful Holidays Into Happy Holidays!

It's that time of year again, the weather is turning cold (at least in my part of the world) and the holidays are approaching. Fun and laughter are in the air. There are so many things to plan for, look forward to and enjoy; music, food, parties, presents, friends and family...it's the happiest time of the year!

Or is it?

For many people it is the most miserable time of the year, for others it would be happy if only they didn't have to deal with so many stressful things...

Overeating, overspending, holiday travel, baking, cooking, shopping, drinking, family dramas, these things can leave you feeling pressured, overwhelmed, and dreading the holidays.

Rather than give in to these feelings let EFT come to your rescue. With EFT (short for Emotional Freedom Techniques) you can change the way you react to these stressful factors, and just possibly sail through the holidays in health and good cheer.

See How It's Done - Tap Along With the Video

First I just want to state that this is not a "how to do EFT" lens; rather my intent here is to inform you of the all the benefits EFT can bring to your holiday enjoyment. I do however teach classes AND Teleclasses on EFT that go way beyond the basic tapping technique. You can find information on these classes on my website Awakening Wellness

Watch these videos to get a good idea of how to tap for holiday stress.

Holiday Time is Family Time

And That's Not Always A Good Thing...

Ah families... they can make or break a holiday. Is the thought of all that family time making you irritable, angry, or just plain grumpy? Can't stand the thought of another meal with Aunt Susie gumming her food? Is your mother-in-law critical of everything you do? Worried that Uncle Ralph will have too much to drink again?

Don't despair; a few sessions of EFT tapping can restore your good mood and sense of humor. So go ahead and tap on any of these statements that fit your situation.

Even though I am terrified of entertaining my in-laws, I choose to relax and enjoy this special time.

Even though I feel out of place with my boyfriends family, I choose to be confident and at ease.

Even though I feel guilty that I can't spend enough time with family members and friends, I accept myself and accept that I am doing my best.

Even though I know I'll get frustrated when I have to spend so much time with my family, I choose to remain calm and relaxed and remember that it is just one day in the year.

Even though the family expects so much from me at this time of year, I choose to be relaxed and have fun.

Even though I am responsible for all of the cooking, shopping, and entertaining for the family, I choose to take care of myself first.

Even though I am dreading everything about the holidays, I choose for things to be different this year.

Appreciate Your Family

When your family is at it’s most irritating it helps to make a list of all the things that you DO appreciate about them. Tap on the EFT tapping points while stating something you appreciate at every point.

It's All About the Food

Cooking For Crowds Can Up Your Stress Level!

There is no doubt about it, cooking, baking, and eating, are a HUGE part of the holiday seasons. Luscious, delectable, sinful, fattening foods are everywhere you go. So if you are on a diet, hate to cook, a lousy cook, the one who is stuck with all the cooking, or just trying to eat healthy, you could definitely be stressing out over food.

If the food portion of the holidays is getting you down, try tapping on any of the following statements that fit your circumstance.

Even though I know I will eat too much and gain weight, I choose to easily control my eating.

Even though I am tired of always being the one to cook the big meal, I completely accept myself and how I feel.

Even though we have to eat at 4 different houses in one day, I choose to accept this as a fun adventure.

Even though I am really getting nervous to be around all those goodies and not pig out, I accept myself and choose to enjoy small amounts.

Even though I always eat too much during the holidays, I choose to eat in a healthy manner.

Even though I'm not going to be able to resist all the food and drink and my diet will go out the window, I love and accept myself anyway.

Appreciate Yourself

When was the last time you showed any appreciation for yourself...for all the millions of things you do everyday? Stand in front of a mirror and tap in appreciation for every little thing you did today. This is an incredible way to raise your vibrations and feel better in minutes.

Are You in Shopping Hell?

Deadline Shopping Can By Very Stressful

Not everyone is a Shopaholic... many of us HATE to shop. It can be very stressful shopping for people when you are on a limited budget, have no clue what to get for them, the malls are packed...and time is running out!

Take a little time out to tap on your feelings before you go shopping.

Even though I have too many people to buy for and not enough money, I choose to shop creatively.

Even though I hate the crowds at the stores, I choose to be peaceful while shopping.

Even though I don't know what to get anybody, I accept myself and choose to be inspired.

Even though I don't have the money to buy the things I want, I choose to be grateful for the money I do have.

Even though I'm feeling anxious because I still have so much shopping and preparation to do, I deeply and completely accept myself and forgive myself for not being perfect.

Even though I resent all the money I have to spend on Christmas, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I feel pressured to buy the perfect gifts, I accept myself and I give myself the gift of peace.

Even though I have no clue about what to buy for all the people that I need to buy gifts for, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Holiday Blues

You Don't Have to Suffer Through the Holidays

While the holidays can bring joy and laughter, they can also cause loneliness, sadness, and depression. Death, divorce, absent loved ones, illness, loss of a job, moving away from friends and family, are all experiences that can contribute to these feelings.

It's true that EFT cannot change these circumstances, but it CAN release the emotional charge that evokes your FEELINGS about these events.

Even though I can't be with my family for the holidays, I choose to be cheered by memories of past holidays.

Even though I am alone, I accept myself and choose to get to know myself better.

Even though I've lost my job, I choose to be grateful for all the blessings in my life.

Even though everything is different this year, I choose to accept and bless the changes in my life.

Even though I miss my friends, I thank the universe for bringing me new opportunities in a new place.

Even though I am far from home, I choose to have a wonderful holiday.

Even though I feel awful, I allow myself to feel really good.

Even though I feel really sad on this first holiday without (name) and am afraid I will start to get emotional in front of everyone, I completely accept myself and how I feel.

Even though I dread people asking about my job since they don't know I was laid off and I really don't want to talk about it, I completely accept myself and honor how I feel.

The Gratitude Diet - A Thanksgiving Technique

Be Appreciative- Give Thanks

A great way to lift your holiday spirits is to think of all the things that you have to be grateful for.

Gratitude is one of the highest states of emotion we can experience.

Every day starting before the holidays if possible, tap on statements of thanksgiving and gratitude. Make a list of 25 or more statements and tap them in using the EFT Tapping points.

Teach yourself to appreciate everything and everyone in your life. Express gratitude for every single moment of your life. Doing this will change your energy, raise your vibrations, and help you to attract more good things into your life which you can appreciate and feel grateful about.

The following 25 gratitude statements can help you get started on your gratitude diet. These statements are very general, so add to them with very specific statements that are personal to your life.

I am grateful for my life.

I am grateful for my healthy body.

I appreciate all the blessings in my life.

I appreciate myself just as I am.

I am grateful for life's unlimited opportunities.

I appreciate the guidance I am receiving.

I love knowing I need only ask to receive.

I am so grateful for all the prosperity in my life.

I love receiving the abundance of the universe.

I love knowing we all deserve the best in life.

I am grateful for the lessons I have learned.

I am grateful for all of my experiences.

It is important to feed the energy of gratitude within you. If you are feeling stuck use more statements of gratitude to get your positive emotions moving again.
