A Course In Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons For Surrendering Your Weight Forever

Updated on May 27, 2013

My Book Review

A Course in Weight Loss, 21 Spiritual Lessons for Surrendering your Weight Forever, is a spiritual self-help book that gives you the tools and support needed to go deep inside and find the root cause of your "weight issues". During this journey within you will learn one-step at a time, how to shift your relationship with yourself, your body, and with food, from one of fear to one of love.

Based on the principles of A Course in Miracles, Marianne guides you through 21 steps that will help you to uncover the "weighty" emotions, patterns, and beliefs, that may be keeping you stuck in a habit of addiction, compulsion, and self-hatred. Whereas most weight-loss books focus on counting calories and fat grams, this book focuses on your spiritual and emotional health. The concept here is that fear is the subconscious cause of excess weight, and that "only spirit has the power to positively and permanently reprogram both your conscious and subconscious mind." Through journaling, meditation, prayer, letter writing, visualization, and other spiritual practices you can heal the wounded self and learn to love and trust again.

I found this book to be a wonderful program for healing on all levels. Personally I wouldn't limit the effectiveness of this program to just weight issues. I believe that you could heal many addictions with the principles in this book just by changing the wording to fit the problem. I highly recommend this book whether your issue is food, shopping, or smoking, with this program you can heal from the inside out!

"Once you've aligned yourself with the lightness of your true being, the dense, heavy energies of addiction and compulsion will fall away of their own dead weight."

-Marianne Williamson

Do you think there is a link between spirituality and weight issues?

How do you feel?

"Weight that disappears from your body but not from your soul is simply recycling outward for a while, but is almost certain to return. It's self-defeating, therefore, to struggle to drop excess weight unless you are also willing to drop the thought-forms that initially produced it and now hold it in place."
